The dark rollercoaster Eurosat, a landmark of Europa-Park’s French themed area, as well as the square around the giant sphere, founded in 1989, will be extensively modified until summer. The rails and cables of the Eurosat - CanCan Coaster are being completely renewed, with the technology and theming also undergoing generous revisions. The entire façade will likewise be given a vivid new look and, in line with the well-known sight ‘Moulin Rouge’ ‒ a Parisian bastion of fun and entertainment since 1889 ‒ will be attractively designed displaying the rich culture and history of France, making it an unforgettable experience for visitors. Right by the entrance to the ride, visitors can also explore an Alsatian souvenir and curio shop called Madame Freudenreich Curiosités, which replaces the former Universe of Energy attraction. Beginning in summer 2018, the Eurosat sphere will also offer its passengers the innovative Coastiality experience.
Renewed Rollercoaster is called Eurosat - CanCan Coaster
Since the end of the 2017 summer season, the French themed area of Europa-Park has undergone extensive construction, with a focus on the 45-metre-high dark rollercoaster Eurosat which, since 1989, has safely transported more than 80 million people through its characteristic sphere. The rails, alongside all other technical aspects, as well as the theming are completely revised. The ride, created by Mack Rides, will provide a significantly improved riding experience thanks to innovations and advancements in rail manufacturing by the Waldkirch company. In memory of the inventor Franz Mack, and at the request of the owner family Mack, the future track layout will be very close to the original in the futuristic silver ball, and therefore will continue to be around 900 meters long.
Prominent appearance: Variety Theatre Moulin Rouge gets new façade
Europa-Park is world-famous for its detailed and realistic design. The redesigned façade, in front of the French themed area’s landmark, will therefore be greeting passengers with a true-to-life replica of the Parisian variety theatre Moulin Rouge. The attractive redesign references the well-known sight and invites visitors to dive into the Paris of the 19th century. A ride on the Eurosat - CanCan Coaster evokes the times of the Belle Epoque and allows visitors to experience a night rollercoaster ride of a very special kind. Cancan is a French style of dance that was created around the year 1830 and is still performed by dancers at the Moulin Rouge in the Montmartre district. Germany's largest theme park honours the vaudeville theatre with, alongside other iconic Parisian symbols, a faithful replica of the red mill which is run today by the third generation of the Clerico family and is already supported by the fourth generation.
New VR experience from MackMedia
As part of the redesign, MackMedia is creating yet another new virtual reality experience in Europe's most popular theme park – Eurosat Coastiality. In order to create the innovative ride experience, a second station with shift track and separate trains will be integrated into the dark ride rollercoaster for the first time. There will therefore be two attractions in one ride, using the same route.
Madame Freudenreich Curiosités replaces Universe of Energy
Visitors can also look forward to further innovations in the French themed area. The world of Madame Freudenreich, with its Alsatian souvenir and curio shop and gleaming traditional half-timbered look, will replace the previous attraction Universe of Energy. Right next to the entrance to the Eurosat - CanCan Coaster, visitors will be able to experience various exciting scenarios in the house of dinosaur fans. They will have the chance to discover many prehistoric artefacts from these great giants of the past. Then, heading past Dino-Selfies with Ms. Freudenreich and down to the former wine cellar, visitors will find a dinosaur breeding farm amidst a lush garden, where the Dinos are fed with delicious Gugelhupf and many surprises are waiting to be discovered.
Other innovations include a floating bistro boat with seating for around 70 people across two floors, the repositioning and rebuilding of the traditional Flammkuchen stand, and a water fountain show that will entertain visitors every half hour with different French music.
The extensive redesigns pay homage to the rich culture of France, its history, and the unique way of life in the neighbouring country.
Information about Moulin Rouge
Moulin Rouge lets visitors enter a magical world which spectacularly presents, shares, and reinvents the emotions, surprises, and passions (rather than anxieties) of 1889 Parisian nightlife. A cabaret and public ball for its grand opening, a legendary variety theatre during the Golden Twenties, and a stage where famous French and international artists performed: The Moulin Rouge and its 60 artists are currently presenting their Revue Féerie, a two-hour show full of magic, dancing pictures, and stunning acts, not forgetting the legendary dance originating from Moulin Rouge, the French Cancan. Every evening, the world of theatre invites visitors to dream, with original French music, a thousand costumes full of feathers, crystals, and sequins, outstanding performances, and splendid decorations. The craftsmen in the behind-the-scenes workshops are also very enthusiastic. Thanks to their talent and unique savoir-faire, the plumassiers, shoemakers, embroiderers, and tailors hand-craft stunning tailored costumes, shoes, and accessories that make it possible for the artists to give everything on stage and create an unforgettable performance.
Whether for a champagne-tasting evening full of performance, or a dinner show featuring refined dishes designed by Chef David Le Quellec, Moulin Rouge welcomes guests from France and around the world to its original location, at the foot of the Montmartre hill, to share with them in a unique celebration full of emotion and excitement.
