On Friday, 14 August 2009, the Mayor of Wroclaw, Dr. Rafal Dutkiewicz, embarked on a journey to “New Horizons”! Together with his two children he was catapulted within 2.5 seconds into the lavish green landscape featured in the Icelandic themed area of Germany´s biggest theme park.
Wroclaw is upside down!
During the following 3 minutes and 20 seconds, the doctor of philosophy who also has a PhD in mathematics, experienced the square of the circle in its true sense, because Europa-Park´s spectacular “blue fire Megacoaster” not only features three rolls but also the highest loop of a catapult-coaster in Europe. The question, how he experienced the ride, was answered by Rafal Dutkiewicz as follows: “Unbelievably fast! But as I like speed, the ride was a really great experience for me!”
Rafal Dutkiewicz visited Europa-Park together with his family. Moreover, he was accompanied by the two German politicians Willi Stächele (minister of finance Baden-Württemberg) and Peter Straub (president of the Landtag of Baden-Württemberg). In addition to the thrilling ride on “blue fire Megacoaster”, he also strolled through the park´s 13 European themed area and had plenty of fun on numerous other rides and attractions.
With over 4 million visitors in 2008, Europa-Park is the biggest theme park in Germany. On an area of 80 hectares, the guests can experience more than 100 shows and attractions, among them ten roller coasters. Moreover, the theme park, which is located in the border triangle Germany, Switzerland and France, offers a large variety of architectural and cultural characteristics. All those who want to stay at Europa-Park for several days, can choose from the 4-star superior hotels “Colosseo” and “Santa Isabel”, the 4-star hotels “El Andaluz” and “Castillo Alcazar”, a guesthouse and a camp resort.
